Set in Japan's Edo period, Kamiwaza stars amateur thief Ebizo, who aspires to steal from the rich and give to the poor.

During his first action, however, he and his mentor, Ainosuke, witness their own men taking the lives of innocent civilians, dismayed by the horrific display of violence, Ainosuke advises Ebizo to flee with the sole survivor - a lonely girl.



A decade later, Ebizo has maintained his morals, living an honest and fulfilling life with Suzuna, the young woman he took in as his own daughter, but the illusion of safety is shattered when Suzuna falls ill.

To buy the medicine he desperately needs, Ebizo faces a heavy financial burden.



Confronted, Ebizo is forced to return to the Mikado underworld, but vows to steal only for the sake of the less fortunate.
